To Mr. Johnson’s wife and family, I offfer my deepest condolences. As a Tuskegee heritage member through my father LtCol. Clayton Lawrence, our TAI meetings were lively with Mr. Johnson’s stories of his fierce love for Tuskegee and it’s proper place in American history. It was an honor to learn from him; he will be truly missed.

My Dad loved us so much. This was a special occasion, my sister gave me a special gift; and shared the giving of it with my Dad. Dad was good and kind always.
Job 14:14,15 "If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes.
You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands."

The loss of a parent is one of the most difficult things one will ever go through. The bond between a son or daughter and their dad is profound and everlasting. The loss of a father can bring about not only feelings of loss and grief, but also fear. We often view our fathers as protecting us and so that loss can affect our feeling of safety. However, God is watching over each of you and your family is here in your time of sorrow.

Such great memories of Mr. Johnson, I still called him Mr. Johnson even as a grown-up and always kept in touch with him. He was like a second dad to us Head family, living across the street (Johnson Street). MR. Johnson took us everywhere he took his 3 children (Michelle, Terry, and Billy); special events, theaters in NYC, musicals, beaches in Glen Cove, Jones beach, the Worlds Fair in 1965. Took us to scary places at night. Mr. Johnson really got a kick out of hearing us screams. He was such a wonderful man ( there was no other man like Mr. Johnson. He took many pictures and videos of all the kids dancing in his basement. Those memories of Mr. Johnson will forever be in in my heart. My fondest was when he and his daughter (Terry) came to visit Linda and I in Virginia. All the surviving Tuskegee Airmen were invited to President Obama Inauguration Jan 2009. I never knew Mr. Johnson was a Tuskegee Airman and he lived right across the street growing up. Wow, what a proud moment for us. I loved that man so much. My heart goes out to the family

Smile remembering his smile, laugh at him driving that big Cadillac around, bow your head remembering WHAT he and others did for His country. Waiting decades to be recognized asTHE TUSKEGEE AIRMAN.
Thank you Mr. JOHNSON for those memories.

Fly with our Eagles in Heaven. We will grieve, but knew you were ready to join our Lonely Eagle Chapter in the sky. Mr. Johnson, was always ready for a new adventure and was dedicated to our chapter and myself.
I cried as I looked at the video of Mr. Johnson and the joy he had when he took a flight in a biplane two years ago on his birthday. I am grateful to Reynard Burns and Miguel Moreno who arranged the flight, plus my sister who put the adventure to music.
Will miss you much,
