To my Uncle Carmine,
Although you became my uncle through "marriage", you treated me like family and better than my so called "real" uncles over the last 30 years or so. Whether we talked about sports (like soccer), hobbies (like gardening) or important things (like family and real life), etc, I listened to your advice and comments and you listened to mine. We didn't always agree with everything 100% of the time but the important thing is we talked and shared things--we were very respectful with each other.
In the beginning especially, you would mess with my head speaking half in English and half in Italian. The funny thing is that after a while, I could follow what you were saying. LOL. We had a chance to golf together a few times over the years but I was not nearly as good as you and you always won. Instead of bragging or gloating, you always took the time to give me tips to improve my game. On our last golf outing together some years ago, you took me to one of your local Glen Cove Golf courses to play a round in a nice place overlooking the water. I had the round of my life up to that point and broke a hundred on a real course for the first time but you still managed to beat me by a stroke.
My father-in-law, Angelo (who was your big brother), and you were cut from the same cloth--no pun intended. You both were honest, hard working, generous and highly intelligent men who always tried to do the right thing. It was my honor to have known both of you. I'll see you on the other side for a rematch in golf--maybe, I will beat you next time. Say hello to Angelo for me. Until we meet again...
And finally, to Aunt Ada, Rae, Jenna & CJ, my depest condolences to you and yours as Uncle Carmine was truly a great man--I will not forget him.

Dear Carmine, You are in heaven with your dear brother Angelo. I will always remember all the Sundays we were together and you Ada and Angelo tried to explain to me about your life in Italy before coming to the US. Angelo was very sick as a baby and would not eat. Your mother tried to get him to eat an egg so she offered him a penny to eat it. You popped up agreeing to eat it for nothing. This is how you spent your life - generous to everyone. We will miss you. Bless you Carmine, love Josephine

My fondest memory of my Uncle Carmine was talking about his vegetable garden and how to this day every time I plant my tomatoes his words come to me. Rest In Peace..
