Obituary of Sezar Gungor
In Loving Memory of Sezar Gungor
April 4, 1962 – January 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sezar Gungor, a beloved father, brother, and friend, on January 3, 2025. After a courageous battle with cancer, he departed peacefully, surrounded by love and the family he cherished. He is now reunited with his mother, father, and sister.
Sezar was born on April 4, 1962, to Hamza and Nakiye Gungor in Yenice, Turkey. In his earlier years, Sezar was passionate about playing soccer as a midfielder at Yenice Sports Club. He went on to proudly serve in the Turkish army for two years as a sergeant and parachute commando.
After moving to the United States, Sezar’s determination and hard work were evident as he began his 40-year career as a gas station attendant, later being promoted to service manager. Through his kindness, positivity, and humor, he touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting impression and giving light to everyone he met.
He cherished his family deeply and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Outside of his professional accomplishments, Sezar enjoyed a variety of hobbies. Tennis, golf, gardening, listening to music, and cheering on his favorite sports teams were among many of his favorite pastimes.
Sezar is survived by his two daughters (Ashley and Stephanie), three brothers (Davutcan, Atilla, Hasan), and sister (Sule). Though our hearts ache from his loss, we find comfort in knowing that he leaves behind a profound legacy of love, resilience, and inspiration.
A celebration of Sezar’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dodge Thomas Funeral Home, located at 26 Franklin Ave, Glen Cove, NY 11542.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to be made in Sezar’s honor to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society. Your generosity will support the ongoing fight against cancer and bring hope to others.
Sezar’s impact on our lives was immeasurable. His warmth, strength, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories and lives of all who knew him.
