He excelled at sports, especially baseball. His years as a Boy Scout made him an avid explorer which would stay with him throughout his life.
After graduating from Providence College he served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning he began his career at Schick Electric Shaver and in 1959 he moved to New York and joined International Playtex where he became General Sales Manager and Group Vice President. He joined Revlon in 1977 and served as President of Revlon Canada and President of Revlon USA. He had homes in Sands Point, Manhattan, Toronto and Wilton, Connecticut. After retiring from Revlon in 1993 he became treasurer of the Board of Trustees of Ridgefield Academy, in Ridgefield, CT, where he was instrumental in creating the financial plan securing its future for generations and acquired the property where the campus is today. His love of travel took him to over 90 countries and seven continents. He had a special love for Africa where he created unforgettable safaris based on his intimate knowledge of the region. His commitment to education extended to his beloved Africa where he helped to build a school in the Masai Mara. He actively promoted sustainable tourism to protect the beautiful land he loved. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help others. He encouraged and believed in lifelong learning and had an unquenchable curiosity. Always an athlete, he worked out every day until his early 90s. He loved to golf and was extremely good at it. He played at courses all over the world with some of golf’s greatest players. The end of his life was truly peaceful and he expressed his gratitude to God for the beautiful life he had been given and it was a life well lived. He will be deeply missed.
