When I was a child I met Joan and she always had the best smile , best hugs, and cooked the best meals, but she cared about everyone that was in her space. I grew up in New Jersey so unfortunately I didn’t get to see her as much as I would have liked but when I did she lit up a room and made me feel like I was one of her own. I’ll never forget how she cared and treated people, made everyone laugh & smile. Her laugh and massive care for others is second to none and she never forgot a good deed in which she multiplied for others. Salt of the earth maybe cliche but definitely an understatement for how cool and great of a person to have had the pleasure to know. Prayers to the Family. God Bless everyone she touched and I thank God that I was able to know her and felt her kindness over the years when I was younger.

I met Joan 67 years ago, That is a long time ago and I still remember how she and Cathy greeted me as the new kid in school. She was always fun loving while living her life with purpose. If there was something she wanted or needed in her life, Joan worked and planned for that. I always admired Joan's raising her sons alone and making a good life for them. It's the little things I remember . Each time I scramble an egg, I think of Joan because she taught me the best way to make an omelet. Then there was the time neither of us could drive a stick shift but drove Joan's new VW to the Hamptons. We practiced behind her parents house, took off and luckily we survived! As we grew up we moved miles apart and did not see each other often but remained the kind of friends who could always let time or space evaporate so it seemed like yesterday. When we visited in April Joan was in vibrant good health. It is hard to believe she left this earth so quickly. I miss her.

Joan was a vibrant and energetic woman. She was a pleasure to work with on the Beautification Commission, and was especially fun at her St. Patrick’s day dinner this year, and our Friday nights at Morgan Park.

Joan was such a bright and knowledgeable woman. It was a pleasure to work with her on the Beautification Commission, especially this year while she was president. And I’ll never forget St. Patrick’s Day dinner at her house this year, not all our Friday nights and Morgan Park!
