CANDEE, William J. III of Glen Cove, NY on May 30th, 2024 at the age of 97. Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of William J. IV. Dear brother of the late Grace Wood and Mary Elrod. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
Benefactor of the Candee Award for Excellence in Medical Education at Northwell Health; longtime Chair of Ice Theatre of New York, Inc.  Graduate of Cornell Law School (LL.B.) and NYU Law School (LL.M.). Attorney in private practice; later partner in Rivkin Radler LLP.  Longtime Director and Chair of Audit Committee of Forest Laboratories, Inc.; Executive Vice-President of Purolator Services, Inc., Executive Vice-President of the Dime Savings Bank of New York; Co-Chairman of TXX Services., Inc.  US Army veteran, served in Japan in WW2, 1945-46.
Avid golfer, ice skater, tennis and platform tennis player.  54-year member of The Creek, longtime member and Governor of Beaver Dam Winter Sports Club; 33-year member of the Union Club of the City of New York and of the U.S. Seniors' Golf Association.  Arrangements entrusted to Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home of Glen Cove. Mass at St. Dominic RC Church of Oyster Bay on Wednesday June 12th at 10am.
