I am a member of Sea Cliff Yacht Club and have been filming the Frostbite races, which Bob was a part of. He is sorely missed. I made this for our club display and thought I would put a copy here as well. My sincere condolences to your family.

Bob was a wonderful and optimistic coach to my daughter and he always made practice fun. We’ll always remember his red shoes and his big personality.

I find it very hard to believe Bob is no longer with us. Bob was an integral part of the documentation of my children's youth.
He was there snapping photos at GC Little league, He was there at Beaver Dam as my daughter skated from Tea timers to Reds to Whites to Beaverettes and every Carnival and test. He took the photos of all our GreenVale graduations and he took photo and video of my daughter's sweet sixteen- an amazing body of work. In the huge amount of time that he took to get things just the way he wanted it, he took the time to chat. Bob was an amazing, easygoing, low key, talented gem- with a terrific sense of humor. He was incredibly genuine himself and took a genuine interest in his subjects- and it showed in his photographs. I cherish them and am grateful for all the time and effort that he took while making it seem effortless. God Bless you Bob- it was a true pleasure to have known you. I count myself very fortunate indeed NT Hawkins

I am so sad and shocked to hear of Bob’s passing. Bob and I became friends in the 90’s when he was bartending in Costello’s. We shared a love of music and we often went into the city to see live bands in the Village ending the night in a diner where we could chat for hours. Bob taught me photography and we spent days out with our cameras.
Bob and I also traveled together. We went to Greek island Rhodes and when I was living in Australia he came out there to travel with me for a month. A highlight of the trip was scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef. When I moved back to Scotland he visited me a few times. We traveled to the Highlands and Islands and toured Edinburgh.
He came to the Scottish island where I got married and took our photographs.
I have so many stories from all our adventures. One memory with Bob that stands out is when we went to Jones beach to see Tori Amos and Alanis Morrisette in concert. We didn’t have tickets but we hoped to buy some there. The concert was sold out and there were a lot of people there that had the same idea as us. We were ready to give up and go home when someone approached the group asking if anyone was a blood doner. Bob produced his doner card and the woman gave us 2 tickets- for free! The concert was amazing on a lovely night and I’ll never forget it.
I last saw Bob in October’23 when I was visiting New York. We had a great day. He took me and my son out on a boat and we had lots of laughs over dinner with my family and friends.
There’s so much I could say about Bob, he really was the kindest, most genuine, fun person. I will cherish our memories, I’m so grateful to have shared all these experiences with him.
I will donate blood and crack open an O’Doul’s in memory of my dear friend.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to pay my last respects. My heartfelt condolences to Bob’s family.

I joined HHC in 2017 and quickly became acquainted with Bob. He was instantly friendly and welcoming to my family and I. I remember seeing him every time I was at Sea Cliff garage sale day. He loved getting deals and collecting antiques. When I joined the club, I was there every day over the summer. I saw Bob there every day on the porch looking at birds, boats, and the other amazing sights of the club. That was Bob's thing; he was a staple of the HHC. I remember spending a few hours one Forth of July really getting to know Bob on the porch while watching the fireworks. Another fun memory I have with Bob was when we went out to set the racing markers, I remember it was on an old power boat and he decided to wear a life vest (I followed suit). It made sense but at the time we thought it was so funny just because we were joking that we were going to sink out there due to the boat's old age. Bob was a pillar of the club and the community. I am so grateful to have had chance to get to know him and sail with him. I have so much more memories and things to say. I express my sincerest condolences to Bob's family during this time.

So many wonderful memories with Bob at Hempstead Harbour Club - conversations on the porch and afternoons on the water. Bob was a good friend and a great human being. A devoted uncle and dedicated coach, his face would light up sharing details of the latest game or plans for an afternoon with his nieces. Bob was a kind soul - always the voice of reason and always with a kind word and a smile. Thank you, Bob for all the memories. Deepest condolences to the Canavan family.

I remember Uncle Bob as a prominent figure in the Sullivan family - His love for the family overflowed & he was often involved in their gatherings - He was so well loved! I heard many stories of Uncle Bob and he was always talked about lovingly ~
I also remember his great love of softball as we chatted at a few softball games together - Bob's kindness was felt as we chatted easily about the game ~ He was such an encouraging influence on so many ball players - I know he will be greatly missed in the community! ~ May his legacy live on in your hearts forever !

Uncle Bob was more than a coach and a friend; he was a source of fun, laughter, and endless encouragement. I’ll never forget the game ball he gave me — a reminder of not just a win, but of the joy and teamwork he always championed. Here's to Uncle Bob, whose spirit of joy and camaraderie will always stay with us.
