Bill was born and raised in Bayside, Queens to Margaret Kiernan and Theodore Heisig on November 25, 1927. The youngest of three boys he attended  public school, P.S. 130 in Queens where he learned to play baseball eventually pitching for the New York Yankees farm system for two years in 1947-48. A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard from 1945- 1947, Bill attended Kent State University on the GI Bill from 1948-1951. His father, Ted, had been a private detective so becoming a State Trooper with the New York State Police from 1952- 1972 was a natural course for him. One of his duties was as a body guard for Governor Dewey. A realtor for 20 years, an antique dealer, tennis player and a painter describes a man of many interests....  He leaves behind a son, Max (Ly), a daughter, Allaire, another son, Banigan (deceased), his wife, Aleta and two grand children, Lola and Colette. A generous, dignified soul, he will be sorely missed. Donations may be made to Signal 30 https://signal30.org/donate/
