Obituary of Mary Rita Haggerty Doherty

 HAGGERTY, Marita of Locust Valley, NY on December 3rd, 2019 age 92. Beloved wife of the late George Clausen Haggerty and the late Joseph Doherty. Loving mother of Beth Steers, Meg Powers, Greg, John, Laura and the late Anne. Proud grandmother of Dana and William. Special great grandmother of Izzy. Marita was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Gertrude’s Church. She devoted her life to praying for others and she believed in the power of prayer. Marita prayed for people who were sick, people with disabilities, people suffering emotionally or physically. Her ministry was to help others heal through prayer and she touched so many lives by doing so, she will be greatly missed.  Visitation at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home Glen Cove Saturday 5-7pm; Sunday 2-4 & 6-8pm. Mass at St. Gertrude's RC Church of Bayville on Monday at 11am. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice Care Network. www.DodgeThomas.com
