Darlene, you were one tough cookie!
I will miss your voice here, and your famous statement "what did I do now"! Thank you for all the laughter, kindness, and generosity. I also want to "thank you" for making my daughter, "Hope", feel so special when she came to visit. I will never forget you setting her up at the desk right next to you when she came to visit. I laugh, and cry, when I think about all the items you brought to her desk to make her feel like she was "one of the dept" in her own special way. That in itself meant so much to me. I know your soul will be with us here daily and remind us to do all the work that we need to do, and to stop eating unhealthy (well, some of us)! Your son, daughter, and husband were blessed to have you as their mom/wife, and as much as I know their heart will ache over you, you were the kind of special lady that will always find a way to let them know you are still here with them. May you rest in peace in God's hands, we love you! Maria and Hope

Darlene will always hold a special place in my heart. I have known her for over ten years and admired her so much. She was the most genuine person I know. Her honesty was refreshing and although she was a tough cookie I knew she cared deeply for people. She expressed her love for her husband and kids almost on a daily basis and I knew how proud she was of her kids. Kristin and Ryan you do not know me but I know so much about you, don't worry it is all great things. I haven't worked with Darlene in years but we kept in touch through email and I would always get excited to hear from her. I still hear her voice in my head telling me not to be stupid and marry for money and not love. hahaha but I knew she never truly meant it(mostly). Darlene was one of a kind and she will be truly missed.

I will never forget Darlenes kindness towards me. When I first started working at the lab I knew no one. I ate lunch by myself at the same time she did with two of her friends. Right away she invited me to sit with her and her friends. I felt like the new kid on the first day of school. She made me feel so welcome. I never ate lunch alone again.
Another memory I have of Darlene- eventually we sat right next to each other in client service. A few times I baked lemon cupcakes for all of us. Darlene was so funny. She ate 3 in one day and after her 3rd one, she said I was not allowed to bring them anymore because she had 3! She looked at me and said, " I had 3 cupcakes, I've never eaten 3 cupcakes in 1 day". I will miss Darlene so much. RIP Darlene. Heaven gained an angel
