I’m sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I worked at the club starting the year before she got there and then thru 1985 about 8 years while I was in college and law school. When she found out I was from GC and then learned that we had overlapping acquaintances she couldn’t do enough for me. I worked on the greens crew but she always kept me on through The end of the year and, knowing I was paying for college always told me I could start back up again as soon as we started to get warm days. She even let me work double shifts watering the golf course at night after the grass cutting shift was over. Once she asked if I knew where the control valve for the outdoor fountain was and asked me to show her. Up the stairs to the attic of the mansion I took her. You couldn’t see the fountain from where the valve was located and when I turned it on the water sprayed up about 30 feet. Unfortunately there was a pretty good wind that day and the wedding party got drenched before we turned it back down. She just smiled and laughed and said that next time we’ll know better. She was a firecracker and was very good to me. I’m sure she is in that Fiat convertible driving somewhere fast. Peace to you all.
