Uncle Ed, may this final voyage take you to God's glory to join your loved ones who have preceded you!
You will always have a place in my heart for your kindness, patience and sweet smile. I will forever remember our Schaefer-Flanagan reunions in Glen Cove enjoying back-yard picnics (you at the barbecue), water skiing or sailing on Oyster Bay. You even introduced me to my first clambake where I had the audacity to eat frankfurters!
I cherish the memory of the Flanagan Family cheering me on in Atlantic City as I competed for the title of Miss America. Additionally, the Schaefer's were excited to share in honoring you and Sase at your 50th Anniversary celebration.
I do believe that when one comes to the end of their earthly life itÂ’s times, such as these, and the memories made that provide a sense of purpose and contentment.
Rest in Peace, dear uncle, knowing how much of a difference you made and how very much you were loved!

Dear Family,
Uncle Ed was an amazing person- truly one of a kind!
It's hard to let go, but now he is with Aunt Sassy and all the family who have been waiting for him for so long. He's young again and vibrant!
How fortunate we were to have him in our lives! GOD Bless you all!

Susan, Cynthia and Melissa,
Your father was a co-corker, friend, inspiration and sailing tutor to me. Along with your mother, they became an important and beloved part of my life. Your father's influence was profound in the SYC as well as the LVRC. He was a friend and help to more people than we will ever know. He embodied the very best in church leadership, and I am grateful to God for the time we shared yoked in service to Jesus Christ. May God grant you peace and the assurance of eternal life. Your father's memory will abide in my heart and in the heart of many others.
