Ms. Melillo: It was exactly one (1) week ago that I heard the devastating news. I immediately stopped whatever I was doing and just started to drive around aimlessly. I felt numb - still do. I'm really sorry that I wasn't around for the last few years. That's the part which stings the most, and it never should've happened. It was arrogant and foolish on my part, and I want you to know I take full responsibility for that. I know you're in a better place now, smiling down at everyone, and wishing all of us nothing but the best in our future endeavours. You will forever hold a special place in my heart! May you rest in peace. Love, Danny. PS- I sure hope they have casinos up in Heaven! (:

JoAnn, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the tragic news of your passing. I will always hold a special place in my heart for our conversations that were never short of laughter, wit, sarcasm, or that specific look in your eye that said nothing and everything at the same time and of course Wednesday nights with pasta and meatballs! Thank you for giving me the greatest meatball recipe that has everyone coming back for seconds and thirds! It is a recipe that I will always cherish dearly and think of you each time it's made. My condolences to the Melillo family. Your mom was one of the most amazing and devoted mothers/grandmothers I had the pleasure of knowing. I pray that each day brings slightly more peace than the day before and that her spirit continues to live on through all your great memories.

Miss M- it was only a few months that I've had the pleasure of knowing you, but it really felt like you've been in my life forever. You opened your home to me and made me feel like family from the very beginning; I've never met a more caring and generous woman! I think of you every time I look at my nails...they would still be short from me biting them had you never introduced me to the powdered gel manicure! You were a great mother- I see the proof of that everyday in the amazing men that you raised! I know you are no longer in any pain and at peace, but you are greatly missed and always will be.

Mom, I can't believe I'm sitting here writing you a message in your obituary it just doesn't seem real. You were a very special person and touched a lot of people you had a great sense of humor and could always make someone laugh. I miss you like you wouldn't believe I keep thinking I'm going to walk in the house and see you at the kitchen table or on the couch watching tv or laying down. You were always there for me went over and above and I realize now that you sometimes got on me because you loved me and wanted best for me. I'm doing my best with this but it's the hardest thing I ever had to go through in my life please give me the strength. I'm going to miss you asking me about my night at work or you texting me before you went to bed saying you loved me and to stay safe. I know your in a good place now pain free with grandma grandpa and uncle mike and that makes me happy but I would do anything to have you here now and talk to you, go out to tabys or Chinese, ask your advice on things. I'm lost right now I just talk to you out loud in the house. I love you I miss you!

To my partner in grandmotherhood- I miss you Grammie- my heart is broken. I can't believe I won't see you at Marah's kitchen table with kids and dogs everywhere as we try to get the food ready. It was the two of us for so long that I can't imagine doing this job without you. You will always be Grammie and I will always be Nana and I will always see you in my mind's eye at that kitchen table. I know that someday we will sit down together again and have a long talk - but until then for everything you were and everything you did - there is not a day that will go by as they grow up that I will not remember-my heart is heavy- I love you forever- Nana
