listened to Julia's music this morning and wondered what she's been up to since last I saw her in 2000. So sad to learn she passed. Still crying.

I had the pleasure of meeting Julia in NYC some years ago - we corresponded for some time after that. I'm a DJ at WDIY and I was playing her music tonight. I looked her up to send her a note when I read about her passing. The world has lost a beautiful person and a beautiful voice.

In looking back over my life, there are probably less than a thousand people to whom I feel connected, whose path crossed mine and we spent time together. Of the seven billion people in the world, why these 1000?
I just read about Julianna's death in the UVM Alumni magazine. We lived on the same dorm floor in 1981/1982. She was the inspiration for me picking up guitar (I still have the guitar I bought from Jimbo, another musician living in Harris Millis. Loved to listen to them playing together).
Watching the video posted by October Project, it feels like yesterday when I knew her. In a Buddhist meditation I do, it says "may I and all beings with whom I am connected be miraculously born in the Realm of Bliss as soon as these impure bodies are cast off". I hope to see you there, Julia.
She was a beautiful soul and I am saddened to hear she is gone. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends.

My sincerest condolences to Julia's family.
While you don't know me, Julia and I "met" in June 2013. I soon learned about her job as a Medical Editor, her "dark Brooklyn" apartment, and her love of Prospect Park. In addition to her unique music style, she also introduced me to the music of Imogene Heap and Regina Spektor and, of course, she told me about her family, including her brother, Dave, who lived with his family in Leesburg.
We communicated from afar for a few months, and were making plans to meet in person but for reasons not necessary to go into here, that meeting never happened.
In her final email to me and our last communication she said "you are a sweetheart and I have a penchant for hopeless romantics so, who knows, one day maybe I'll run into you at the national museum."
Although Julia and I never met in person, I think I fell in love with her the first time I saw her inviting smile, heard her hauntingly beautiful voice, learned more about her and her music and her too short life.
And now, I have found out that she's gone.
To those of you who were lucky enough to know and love Julia, please know this - there was this guy in D.C., a hopeless romantic, not too far from her brother in Leesburg, who cared about her very much and wishes he could have somehow met her just once before she joined the angels.
God bless you Julia. I will always think of you when I visit the national museum.

I am so sad to hear this news - (just heard.) Julie was a true friend and confidant in my college years. I cherish the memory of singing Julie's songs and Joni Mitchell songs on the stairs of Slade Hall and drinking coffee in cafes. Julie sang at my wedding and I always imagined getting to NY one of these days and spending time together. I love her and miss her. May peace be with her!

I will miss Julia, and I'm so very sorry to hear of her passing. I send my sincere condolences to her family. Julia and I worked together at Bates Healthworld (Ogilvy) years ago, and I've freelanced for her on occasion at Flashpoint. Julia brought warmth, intelligence, and a wonderful sense of humor. And by far, she was the best and most sassy dressed editor I've ever seen. At the end of the workday, after she'd left, I loved to find her lipstick half opened, a pair of shoes kicked off, a lamp on.

Julia and I were best friends at Ogilvy and Flashpoint. We argued and fought all the time. We often referred to one another as work husband and wife and no one dared to come between us. I am saddended by the passing of my friend. She was the swwetest person ever. I am going to miss her so much. So many tried to earn the title as my work wife but Julia fit the bill and let everyone know it. She had everyone in the agency call me Mikey. I hated that name until Julia decided that she would call me that as a pet name. The way this economy is going, GOD called home another ANGEL to do the work so many have failed. Rest in Peace my friend. Until we meet again.

I met Julie in 1981 at UVM orientation. She was my first real girlfriend. So beautiful, so fun. (It didn't work out, but in a gentle way). I always carried a torch for her: just a memory, a wish, a dream. By chance I googled her today, and feel 'punched in the gut' to learn she passed just a few days ago. Best wishes to you all. I remember she used to say her little bro looked like Howdy Doody, but I never met him. Best to you all. I'm sad too.

Julia will be remembered as the gentle, witty, free-spirited girl I first met in junior high who loved going bare-foot and writing poems, and playing her guitar on the lawn. She sang to nature, and any friends who gathered. She was unique, and charmed us all. She welcomed friends to her home, and shared her favorite treks through the woodlands near the pond. These are among my favorite memories from that age. I was happy to hear Julia sing when she was in Cambridge on tour years ago. Her artistry had matured, yet the light, deft touch was still there. I am very sad to know she is gone. My condolences to the Macklin family, and all who knew Julia. - Martha Clarke

When you read what JuliaÂ’s countless friends share about her, one word is used over and over again...and that is how kind she was.
Julia was one of the nicest, most down-to-earth, and genuinely nice folks IÂ’ve ever met in this business...and in this life.
She was genuinely beautiful, kind-hearted, multi-talented and free-spirited...with a playful and bright-spirited nature that immediately won over all those lucky enough to share some time with her. I will always remember her strutting her stuff, smiling all the while, in her cowgirl boots ☺
If we indeed do meet those people we really loved and respected in the next life, then I know we shall her meet again. Shine On, Julia, for no words can ever express how much we truly will miss you.

JulieÂ’s passion was music (https://myspace.com/juliamacklin/music/song/unbroken-74969929-82705628?play=1). She pursued it while working in publishing. She was amazingly talented. Even though I havenÂ’t seen her for some time, I will miss her. She brought a light and wonderful craziness into this world.
When we worked together at A.I.P. years ago, Julie could make us crazy with her pranks, but they were all good-natured – as she was.
Julie was also extremely sentimental. I remember her taking me on walks in the nature park near(?) Locust Valley or Glen Cove. My memory is going. But she showed me a little shrine she had made for her father there. She missed him so. I know she is with him now.
There is another twinkling star in the heavens.
