GRETCHYN, Walter of Astoria & Glen Cove, NY on December 9th, 2014 age 74. Retired NYPD officer. Former husband of Elizabeth. Loving father of Eric and Billy (Danny). Proud Pop-pop of Kayla and Emily. Dear brother of the late Nicholas. Walter was a former minor league baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies and sports umpire for many different sports. Ran sixty 26-mile marathons. Walter also operated Gretchyn's Volleyball League, which had around 100 different teams. Visitation at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas Sunday 3-5 & 7-9pm. Mass at Holy Cross Ukrainian Church Monday 9:30am.
