PEARSON, Harry H. Jr. of Sea Cliff, NY on November 4, 2014 age 77. Brother of Loretta Pearson of Seattle, WA. He was a mythic figure to music lovers who prized high-end audio and whose magazine "The Absolute Sound" transformed how equipment was judged. Born in North Carolina, Mr. Pearson was a graduate of Duke University. His writing talent led him to an Arkansas newspaper, the Pine Bluff Commercial. There, his series of articles on the battle to stop the federal government from damming the Buffalo River helped win it designation as the first national river. He also covered the environment for Newsday in the mid-1970s tackling fights over the pesticide DDT and "the sludge monster," or ocean dumping. Visitation Wednesday, Nov. 19 4:00pm followed by a service at 5:00pm at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove.
