My heart goes out to the family. Mrs. Maruca was very special to me. She always texted me for my birthday, she was one of first to text me, cause Mary was like me, stayed up late. And Mary was like me, we both loved our candy, if Mary could sneak it, she would, but Natalie wouldn't let her. Natalie was Mary's angel, how she took such good care of her Mom. Mrs. Maruca loved her children and her beautiful grandchild. I'm going to miss, when I talk to Natalie, I always asked Natalie how her mom was doing and tell her I said hi. I love you always and I will miss you. Love always Caryn

Mary was everyone's number one fan. Whether she knew you personally, knew of you through someone else's stories, or simply followed your life on Instagram, she was genuinely proud of you. She celebrated every dream, every accomplishment, and every step you took toward something you loved.
Growing up, there wasn't an interest or hobby that went unsupported. Between her and Aunt Nancy's Target employee discount, our childhood was filled with Disney DVDs, Harry Potter books, Wiis, dance classes, school supplies—and always times four, because she made sure everything was equal. She gave so freely, never expecting anything in return. That was who Mary was. Her love language was generous, selfless giving.
Losing her feels like losing an angel among us. Her light was a warm, golden presence, and everyone who met her loved her just as deeply as she loved them. The world feels darker without her in it. The only comfort we can find is knowing that her passing became a birthday gift for Babe, our grandfather, and that she is reunited with her sister and so many other family members and friends she missed so dearly.
For me, and for so many others, there is no filling the space she has left in our hearts. We'll miss her accidental Instagram "up top," the fifteen emojis at the beginning and end of every text, the Snoopy prayers and words of encouragement she sent through Instagram DMs, and the constant, comforting presence she was in all of our lives.
Mary's love was felt in a thousand little ways, and it will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Aunt Mary held a special place in our family. She was a pilar of love and kindness. The most positive person I’ve had the privilege to call family.
Although we were many miles apart she made the distance smaller. Sharing her love, faith, and many family memories.
Aunt Mary never skipped a beat always liking all our IG posts with a heart and loving comment.
She was my biggest cheerleader! Always pouring love into our lives.
Her love was priceless! She made you feel valuable and supported. There is a comfort in knowing she loved you and prayed for you and your family over the decades!
I will cherish every interaction, FaceTime, every card, every heart liked every story she shared with me forever in my heart.
I am forever grateful to God to have had Aunt Mary apart of my life and the life of my children.
Although my heart is heavy I have peace in knowing she’s with Uncle Babe sitting in Heaven having a cup of coffee!
Aunt Mary was all things family, faith and love! I will miss her more than I can express and will love her always! Thank you Aunt Mary for your love! Forever better for it!
Love

I wasn’t her daughter, she wasn’t my mother, Mary Maruca
but she mothered me. She spoke to me in the universal language of mother,
that I understood even though I had never heard it before.
When life was dark as a young girl, the table in Flower Lane always had a seat for me.
Even when Denise, my friend, wasn’t there. The door was always open. I’m not so sure I would be here today without Mary, without Babe, and their daughters. The family I pretended was mine. I’m not sure I would be here today without the seat she held for me at that table.
She listened to my dreams. Her presence whispered quietly to my spirit.
I heard her voice long after we lost touch, I still do.
The book of my life began in that kitchen; my dreams grew to life as I chronicled the pages sitting at that table. Living the story, I would later write.
It’s been close to 40 years since I’ve seen her, Back in Glen Cove after a lifetime away,
I thought of visiting her to tell her what she meant to me, understanding now, especially after losing my own mother a few months ago.
But that’s the thing with life we think we have more time. I didn’t get the chance.
speaking instead to the universe, hoping she hears.
It was her kindness to me that had a most profound effect on how my life unfolded.
I’m a mother now…My table open to anyone who seeks a mothering presence, I learned that language from her.
Her voice whispers to me, still. Her spirit alive in the memories I hold, however faded.
Ones she never even knew about. Ones that kept me alive, ones that will keep her alive always.
Rest peacefully Mary
