Margaret Kowarski, 98, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia.

Born on January 11, 1928, in Vienna, Austria, Margaret lived a life defined by resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Following World War II, she married the love of her life, Sam Kowarski. Their journey together brought them to the United States, where they first settled in Brooklyn, New York, before making their home in Queens in 1957.

Margaret and Sam shared many happy years together until his passing on October 5, 1995. She continued to reside in Queens for another 25 years before moving to Virginia in 2020 to be closer to her family.

Margaret was the cherished matriarch of her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved, welcoming family into her home with warmth, wisdom, and an abundance of wonderful food. Her generosity, quiet strength, and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Allen Kowarski, and his wife, Mary Ann; her grandchildren, Daniel, Rachel, and Sarah; and her great-grandson, Samuel.

Margaret will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the guidance she offered so generously, and the enduring legacy she leaves through her family. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
