Dear Francesco, today I sit at your farewell not as a friend, but as the son you made me feel like so many times. You told me I was your son, your brother, and today I accept that place with pride. Thank you for every night you told me, for the tears we shared, for calling me your friend to the world. I am here, looking at you, and I am proud of you. You taught me to fight, to be strong. Thank you, Francesco. I know that one night you thanked me, but truly, the thanks are yours. Thank you for the opportunity, for the days of learning, for inspiring me until your last breath. I am grateful to the whole family: Jerry, Raf, Ana, John. I’m the darkest-skinned son of all, but I feel part of it. Even if my English or Italian wasn’t perfect, God knows we understood each other and had a unique bond. You are unique, Francesco. Nothing will be the same. Every music, every laugh, every tear, I will carry with me. Rest in peace, my friend. Hug your wife. I wish I had met her. Until always, my friend. We’ll see each other soon. Sincerely, Totto.

In the 93 years you lived, Papa, you never once fell short of showing us love and affection. Nothing made you happier than being in the kitchen cooking for us, then sitting at the head of the table surrounded by your family, and it was always priceless. Those moments, sharing meals and hearing your stories, are the ones we will cherish most.
Papa, you shared with us how much Mom meant to you. Whenever you spoke of her, your eyes would fill with tears. We saw how much love you and Mom had for each other, and you wanted us to know how deeply you loved her and how much her care meant to you. You kept her memory alive in every story, teaching us that a love like yours truly lasts forever.
You were our greatest teacher, showing us kindness, respect, and how to live each day with hope and strength. Your smile was contagious and could light up any room. You truly loved everyone you met, and we watched as you lived life to the fullest, surrounded by the family you loved so much.
Even in your most difficult times, you never stopped praising us or telling us how grateful you were. But Papa, we are the ones who are grateful. We were the lucky ones to have had you in our lives as a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and a loving husband.
You will always be my hero. We promise to take the lessons you taught us and pass them down to your grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adore you. I love you so much.
Rest in peace as you finally reunite with Mom.
