TANSILL, Donald B. III of Locust Valley, NY passed peacefully on April 12, 2026. Beloved husband of Amy. Loving father to Grant, Preston Shegog (Will), and Reed. Dear brother of Audrey and Robert (Sara). Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Donnie was a friend to all. He cared deeply about his family, friends, and community. Donnie grew up in Upper Brookville where he attended Green Vale School and played hockey at Beaver Dam Winter Sports Club. It was his belief that he drove down Kaintuck Lane more than anyone else in his 60 years as a player, parent, coach, and board member.

He went on to attend Choate Rosemary Hall (‘75) and Brown University (‘79) where he would continue his hockey career and meet many of his best friends. Donnie returned to Locust Valley where he raised his family. He loved to play golf and squash at The Creek Club, throw frisbees on the beaches of Marthas Vineyard and Fire Island and get lost in a good book. He was happiest while coaching his kids’ hockey games and is known to many as “Coach Tansill”. Donnie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
