Renee Karas Obituary

Renee “Ronnie” Ourania Antokas Karas, 95, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on March 20, 2026 after a brief illness. Renee was born on March 24, 1930, in New York, New York. She grew up in Corona, Queens, NY and attended vocational high school.


She is survived by son, Daniel (Cheryl), and James (Jan), five grandchildren, Anthony (Taylor), Angela (Craig), Michael (Blake), Caterina (Jordan), and Gabriella, eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, parents James and Evangeline Antokas, daughter-in-law Helen, and brother John. She spent most of her adult life in Nassau County, Long Island, and moved to Florida in 1993. After many happy years there she moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 2022.


Renee was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox faith with Saint Paul’s in Hempstead being a large part of her life, and finally at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Her passion for her faith, and Greek cultural heritage has been passed on to her family.


Funeral services will start on Saturday, March 28, 2026 with Visitation at 9AM-10AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 10AM, at Saint Paul’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 110 Cathedral Avenue, Hempstead, New York.


Burial will be held after the service at Locust Valley Cemetery, 117 Ryefield Road, Locust Valley, New York
