Obituary of Bayard D. Clarkson

CLARKSON, Bayard D., M.D. of Glen Head, NY died at home on the 30th of December, 2025 at age 99.  Dr. Clarkson was a renowned and accomplished oncologist and hematologist who spent his career at Memorial Sloan Kettering.  He was a prominent contributor in his field, an educator of physicians, and published more than 400 scientific papers.  He took important leadership positions at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and its philanthropic arm, the AACR Foundation. Dr. Clarkson was active on the board of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and on the board of Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY.  He and his late wife, Virginia Clark Clarkson, were pleased to contribute generously to Clarkson University.  Dr. Clarkson is the father of Virginia D. Clarkson, Lindsay L. Clarkson, Bayard D. Clarkson, Jr., and Amy S. Clarkson.  Dr. Clarkson leaves in addition six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Arrangements entrusted to Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home of Glen Cove.
