Obituary of Wayne Gaddy

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wayne Gaddy Jr., of Bayville, NY passed away in the early morning of December 29, 2025 at the age of 83.  He was at home, in peace and surrounded by his wife and children at the time of his passing. He will be dearly missed.

Beloved husband of Cheryl. Proud father of Holly (husband, Craig), Jeremy and Brittany. Dear brother of William (wife, Karen) and the late Patricia Yudain. Adored Papa of Sailor, Jackson and Violet.

Wayne graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington in 1960 and went on to study at Pratt Institute in New York City.

He worked for the Nassau County Department of Public Works for more than 35 years, retiring in 2003 as the NCDPW Director of Construction. Wayne was also a member of the United States Air Force, stationed at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Wayne was a lifetime member of the Matinecock Rod & Gun Club, a former EMT and longtime volunteer firefighter for the Port Washington Fire Department. He was a brilliant engineer, a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time at the gun club, skeet shooting, fishing, having coffee while watching the tides at the Bayville beaches, steel drum bands at Soundside Beach, Octoberfest, and going out to dinner with his family.

Wayne would fondly recall how much he adored helping his fellow Bayville community members during the Nor’easter flooding of 1992.
