Obituary of Salvatore R. Travatello

Please share a memory of Salvatore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

TRAVATELLO, Salvatore R. April 30, 1934 - October 25, 2025, died peacefully after a brief illness.  Loving husband of Marcia (predeceased) for over 65 years.  Cherished father to Lisa Travatello Curran (Brandon), Bob Travatello (Patricia).  Adoring grandfather to Briana, Christian, Connor, and Patrick.  Treasured godfather to Laura Maciag.
Known affectionately as "Mr. Trav," Salvatore was a beacon of light in the Glen Cove School District and community for many decades.  As a School Athletic Director, Physical Education and Driver's Ed Teacher and a beloved Baseball, Basketball and Bowling Coach, Sal took great pride in mentoring and inspiring his students to be their best selves.  In 1975 he was recognized as "Coach of the Year" by the Daily News and the New York State Coaches Association for his exceptional leadership of the Glen Cove High School 1975 Nassau County Championship Baseball team.
A Glen Cove Hall of Fame inductee, U.S. Army Reserve Veteran, golf enthusiast, Summer, and all-around great guy.  Salvatore will be remembered for his wit, his voice and his love for his family, friends, and students.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove from 3-7pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at the Church Of St. Rocco on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 10am.  Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to GENYOUthNow.org or the Glen Cove Community Scholarship Fund.
