Obituary of Giuseppe Mazza

Please share a memory of Giuseppe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mazza, Giuseppe (Pepe’) of Glen Cove, NY faced supranuclear palsy with unwavering determination for many years and passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Giuseppe was born on October 17th, 1946 in Milanese di Calanna, Reggio Calabria, Italy to Domenica Musolino and Carmelo Mazza. He was the adored second of four children.

Giuseppe grew up in a small town, always ready to lend a helping hand, and was loved by everyone who knew him. His mother and future mother-in-law joined forces to match their son and daughter. Their plan worked—he fell hard and fast for Aurora, and after a brief courtship, they were married in 1974.  Shortly after in 1975, they moved to Glen Cove with the help of Aurora’s brother Vincent Condello. He worked with his brothers in law Vincent, Pasquale, and Rocco for a while to jumpstart their lives in America. He succeeded the simple American dream  and provided a wonderful life for his wife and four children.  He was a doting and devoted husband, adoring and loving father of four and cherished nonno of two. He was a talented gardener, superb winemaker, an award winning trap shooter, an expert hunter, and a die-hard fan of Juventus (soccer).

He is survived by his beloved wife, Aurora; his four loving children—Carmelo and his wife Nicole, Domenica, Mary and her husband Michael, and Joseph and his wife Stephanie. He was a proud grandfather to his two cherished granddaughters, Madeleine and Claire. He is also survived by his siblings, Pasqualino and Consolata (Tina) and is predeceased by his brother Rosario. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom he adored completely.

Visitation at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 4-8pm.  Mass at the Church Of St. Rocco on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 10:00am.  Interment to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery.
