Obituary of Kathleen M. Finelli
Kathleen (Kathi) Finelli passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025 in the comfort of her home with her loving daughter Laura, Son-in-Law, Don and Niece-in-law Jennifer by her side.
Kathi was born on May 28, 1936 in Queens to parents John and Johanna Magrath. She has 3 loving siblings, sister Patricia (Pat) (deceased), sister Joan and brother Jackie (deceased). She spent her childhood in Queens and Brooklyn with a large and loving extended Italian/Irish family with many cherished Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who ran Crisci's a very successful Italian Bar and Restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for decades.
Kathi met her charming, handsome, NYPD officer husband Charlie (deceased) in the early 1950's, quickly fell in love and married in 1956. They were married for 60 years. The beautiful and handsome couple moved to Glen Cove, Long Island where they started their family. Their first child Charles was born in 1963 and second child Laura was born in 1966. They grew up showered with love in an ideal charming beach town surrounded by warm and loving neighbors and children that quickly became friends for life. Many of whom will be attending her services. Growing up, weekends and Holidays were spent with their loving grandparents Johanna, Charlie & Laura, Aunts Joan, Pat & Helen, Uncles Hank, Jackie and Lenny and cousins Henry, John, Kathi, Paul, Philomena & Patty on Long Island. Summers were spent traveling across country to California visiting with their West Coast Aunt Pat, Uncle Chuck and cousins Chuckie, Patty & Steve in San Diego.
Kathi's greatest joy was her family. When her son Charles met his wife Rebecca and daughter Laura met her husband Don, she welcomed them with open arms and embraced them with the same love, generosity and kindness that she showered her children with. But Kathi's love had no bounds. When her grandchildren Caroline, Alexander and Annabelle were born she loved and cherished every moment spent with them as they grew up. She attended every birthday party, Communion, Confirmation, Graduation, play & concert. She spent time with them at movie theaters, bowling alleys, beaches, playgrounds, restaurants, Theatre in NYC and High Tea at the Plaza.
Kathi was the best Daughter, Sister, Wife, Aunt, Mom, Mother-in-law, Grandmother and Friend that could ever be imagined. She was loving, kind, generous and selfless. When God created the perfect woman, God created Kathi. May she Rest In Peace.
