To the wonderful, amazing, Kathleen Magrath Finelli.
I am named after Kathleen and she was my aunt and godmother, as well as the beloved sister to my mom Joan Magrath Wieland. The beautiful Kathleen was always serenaded by my father with “There she is Miss America…”
I have so many happy memories of Aunt Kaye and Uncle Charlie. Here are just a few:
Somewhere between 1956 and 1960 (they were in their early twenties), they would pull up to our house in Uncle Charlie’s Ford Fairlane. Hank, John, and I (Paul was not born yet) would run out the front door to greet them with pure glee. They would play with us and spoil us rotten with every “cool” toy on the market. One Christmas the hot toy was “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots” (for Hank) and a Great Garloo Robot (for John), and they could not be found anywhere. Lo and behold, Uncle Charlie found them to my brothers amazement upon opening the gifts.
Besides the countless hours of joy she bestowed on us, Aunt Kaye hosted and cooked countless holidays with our cousins Charles and Laura. She was an incredible cook and made the best lasagna and cheesecake. Another great memory was one summer when the California cousins were in town, she bravely chaperoned several days of all her nieces and nephews at her home. Needless to say, we had a blast!
All of these terrific memories are because of Aunt Kaye and Uncle Charlie. They are forever in my heart. Rest in peace and know you are forever loved.
Your adoring niece, Kathleen Wieland Richter (Kathy)
